Question #1: Many people think that when a missionary returned to their native land in order to report to supporting churches it is a vacation. What are your comments?

Then they haven't taken the time to get to know their missionaries very well. From what I've seen over the years, it is the most exhausting time of all!
It is only a vacation in part--the part where the missionaries alow themselves some time to relax. Churches are learning more and more to give their missionaries a breather or two. We stopped requiring our missionaries to report to us except by letter. We are working on sending our people to see the missionaries in the field so they CAN be freer when back in the States. Also, to encourage them by showing personal interest in their labor for the Lord. God bless, Mark Irwin
Hey, I put that kind of thinking in the same bin of nonsense that says, serving a week in Christian camp as a vacation or going on a two week mission trip as a vacation. From one who has been there, for several weeks I have slept in a different bed every night for weeks at a time. It is no vacation. It does help introduce some of God's choicest servants who choose to serve in a foreign battle. The saddest thing is that many large congregations will not even give them an opportunity to share the excitment of what God is doing in places most Americans have never heard of or thought about.
